MuseScore 4 enable count-in option not visible; count-in tempo is off
In the MuseScore 4 online manual, it says that you can enable metronome count-in under Playback Settings. But the menu item in question does not appear on MuseScore on my computer (see image).
Manual link: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/playback-controls#play-position-and…
Also, when I manually add a blank measure to the score, the tempo is not played as set, but changes to the set tempo only at the start of the first original measure. When I set the tempo to crotchet = 72 (also in the score, and save it), the metronome counts in at crotchet = 90 and then changes automatically to crotchet = 72 when it hits the first original measure. In MuseScore 3, count-in actually works, but the count-in tempo is wrong there too, in a similar fashion.

Count-in is not yet implemented, it is expected back in a later release

OK, so better stick with MS3 if one (like me) wants to use it as a rehearsal tool...
The changing tempo bug apparently only appears with some documents.

Yeah I hope that gets re-implemented in the next release like maybe Musescore 4.0.3

More likely 4.1.0

We'll an eye out for the next update & if one of them says it has the Count-In option, we'll be lucky.

4.10 is the same as 4.1 but just after the zero, maybe it would be re implemented in perhaps 4.2 or so. Let's hope.

I really hope this is added back soon.
(it would be also nice to have in the web and mobile apps)

for now, i would think let measure one be your count-in

Hopefully in the next update the count in part will be added back

I do that but it messes up the bar numbering. I can't find a way to reset the bar numbering to 1 in what has now become bar 2. (Maybe there is one?)
I am really looking forward to getting it back. Like dbaeckstrom, I use it a lot for rehearsal.

You can omit a measure from the count. And you can add or subtract a value from the bar number. Look in the bar properties.

I don't understand how basic and much needed features get left out from one version to another. :(
I even came up w/ a new issue:https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/21227 where I wanted to be able to change the playback notes on the Metronome to where I could have them match the Drum Midi Map. For example instead of having E5 for the Emphasis Beat & F5 for the Click Beat, I could use A#1 for the Emphasis Beat & A1 for the Click Beat (like on the Midi Drum Map).

Ok for MuseScore 3.x , but I'm asking in which future version, not in old version.

why has this not been implemented. this seems such a simple issue.

I'm sure your PR to reimplement it would be welcome.

Is there a reason it was removed? I feel there has to be a very compelling technical reason why it was removed, but I've not seen it posted.

I've heard that the entire UI was rewritten from scratch in MS4 development, and the new MS4 audio design caused many broken features. This meant there was too much to rebuild for the desired timeline—so to meet deadlines MuseScore development decided to deliver MuseScore 4 with a significant amount of missing functionality.
NOTE: Odd that the link (above) contains a subheader that reads:
This page shows old instructions for MuseScore 1.
For MuseScore 4 users, see MuseScore 3 features not (yet) implemented in MuseScore 4.
... when actually the links on that page pertain directly to MuseScore 4.
The image shown at the link you posted shows what you get when you undock the Playback panel. To undock the Playback panel drag it from the main toolbar by its six-dot handle.
I'd really like to see count-in metronome fixed. I'd also like more count-in options like
1) Wait for x seconds before starting count-in
2) Count-in for x measures
... other ideas in the bottom right quadrant of the suggested Play Panel expansion
