Musecore 4.0.2 File Corruption Error
Just installed the Musecore 4.0.2 update and have the error Error=XML_ERROR_EMPTY_DOCUMENT ErrorID=13 (0xd) Line number=0 for one of my pieces. I'm on Windows 64-bit version 10+. Any fix would be great.

Hmm, strange. Extracting the mscx and opening it with 3.6.2 shows
MSCX Error in line 1563: Invalid measure duration: -1/4
Same in a couple other lines.
Try the attached, still corrupt, but opens

I have the same issue with a score I was creating. I spent many hours putting it together and now it is corrupt with the same exact error (Error=XML_ERROR_EMPTY_DOCUMENT ErrorID=13 (0xd) Line number=0). This is the only piece I was working on during the upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2

Both files contain only zeros. Both are damaged beyond repair.
Try to find a backup / autosave copy on your computer.

This is a uncommon file name. Please rename it e.g. to 'Into the Stars.mscx'.
Or take the attached one.
It was caused because you've used a title that starts with dots. Musescore automatically gerenates the filename out of the score title. E.g. Windows can't handle that ...

Windows can handle that, But MuseScore 4 has a bug with dots in filenames
Try like this

Maybe my Win7 does not.
The download of his "...mscz" leads to file with the name "mscz" - a file with no extension.

Open this file with a zip tool. You will find a file 'A Bond Unbroken - copy.mscx'. You can unzip it and it can be opened by MuS 3.6.2. Ignore the message that it was created by a newer version. (This works only with a *.mscx file).
But unfortunately the zip action had an error, so this file cannot be extracted.
Additionally there is a directory named 'Excerpts'. There the individual voices are contained.
You will probably have no choice but to create a new score with these instruments and open these excerpts individually and copy them into the new score.
But unfortunately the alto saxophone excerpt is also broken (no content) and there are only contents for the piccolo flute, the flute, the clarinet, for snare and bass drum as well as for the chimes in the excerpts.
Since at the beginning as well as several times in between in many measures none of these mentioned instruments are playing, there will probably be more missing.
I attach what information I could take from it. MuS 3.6.2.

That file size shows 0 (zero) bytes. That means there's nothing there.
Look for a backup file.
I'm having a similar problem.
I can't open this file, it just closes itself after 5 seconds and doesn't even show an error message.
After converting the backup, which is also corrupted, to .zip and then to .mscx it showed the following error: Error=XML_ERROR_PARSING_TEXT ErrorID=8 (0x8) Line number=1
Anyone have an idea?

Recently I tried some data retrieval to find some of my lost first compositions. I believe this is one, but I can't seem to get it to open. I am getting the error below. Is there a fix for this?

This score stems from MuseScore 1.3. At line 4121 it has:
<Numberre number="46>
which isn't valid in an mscx file.
Shortly after that it has quite some nonsense:
MuseScore 1.3 too doesn't open it.
As far as I can tell that score is pretty corrupt and pretty much beyond repair

Both are broken and contain null bytes only.
Find hidden .mscbackup folder where your ravel.mscz is located. (view hidden files and folders in windows )

How can this even be fixed? This is how disk write cache works.
However, I compared how notepad++ saves files via filemon and how Musescore does it. Notepad++ additionally calls the flush function, but Musescore does not. In any case, this is still not enough.
The only solution is to make the mscbackup more reliable. We have already encountered the fact that backup copies are also filled with zeros.
