XML import from Finale doesn't know what to do with lyrics HELP!

• Sep 24, 2024 - 22:11

All Verses and Chorus import with the text all on same line and there is no way to separate them.
I was hoping MuseScore could be my replacement for Finale,
but accurate Xml import is needed for all those years of Finale files.
I would hate to be forced to the competition Steinbergs Dorico
as it is a complete pain in the A** to learn and MuseScore is so much more intuitive
to use but I need to be able to print my old files and Dorico does a better XML import.
There are thousands of Finale customers out there that are evaluating MuseScore and Dorico right now, so fix this and you've got me.

Why is this happening?
Every file I export from Finale as XML does this to the lyrics.
They are on top of each other and they are not separate verses.
When you opened the XML file I sent the verses are one two lines??
I'm using the latest versions of both software on an M1 MAC.
What could be causing this?

Actually looks like you have the filenames the wrong way round, "Original Finale File.pdf" stems from MuseScore 4.4.2, and is MuseScore that imports those fingerings/lyrics superimposed.

Tried importing the MusicXML file using various MuseScore version. The issue does not reproduce with any of them. Attached is a MuseScore 4.4.2 screenshot. I also inspected the MusicXML file, but found nothing wrong with it.

Could you also attach the MuseScore file resulting from the MusicXML import ? That may contain information leading to the cause of this issue.
