Crash
I used the dynamics (Crescendo), and the system crashed. Guess what? I lost my entire NEW score that I spent the last 2 hours on. Thanks, MuseScore.

This is why you save your work: "early and often".
Check in the backup location (How to recover a backup copy of a score). It's possible (I don't know how likely, since you didn't save it explicitly) that a version of the score was saved automatically.
More likely, you can find it at
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MuseScore\MuseScore4\new_score.mscz
~/Library/Application Support/MuseScore/MuseScore4/new_score.mscz

OHO! That How To is out of date: it points at folders named "MuseScore3". I will update that.
[A few moments later] Apparently I will not. I've never edited a HowTo. When I click the Edit button on the How To, it doesn't show the entire document. So, I can't update it. Can anyone tell me how to do this??? (Or maybe I just don't have the right access?)

I didn't notice that the info was in several fields. The light blue box surrounding the fields doesn't show up well on my computer. So, I only saw the first paragraph or so of the main text. Once I realized this, I was able to modify it ... and did. I left the version 3 info and added the version 4.
