Pedal hooks: Can't set defaults for each end independently
I'm recreating an old score which has pedal marks with the start hook up and end hook down as shown.
The expected method to execute this in Musescore 4.x would be to set the end hook height to -1.2 rather than the default 1.2 and then set this as the default for this score. Unfortunately it sets it for both start and end hooks despite the start hook being an independent setting with an independent default option. It appears that using either hook's "set as default" sets it for both equally.
Thus the only way to have the alternating hook heights is to do it manually for every single pedal mark.
I also note that there is no way to set angle or T hooks as default.

You can copy/paste an existing pedal mark to a bunch of notes:
(You may need to manually adjust the length if spanning unequal blocks of time.)

Unfortunately because of the fragility of Musescore's handling of copied lines that would be slower than changing the hook height one by one.
In this score much of the pedal line alignment is against the treble staff do they would all have to be manually adjusted.
You can change more than one pedal line at a time
Place the pedal lines as normal
Click to select the Properties tab
Right-click on a pedal line and >Select >Similar
Change the End-hook height from default of -1.2 to +1.2 by deleting the minus sign

Thank you - that mostly works but it also resets line length adjustments I've made through the score, so it's a simialr effect to the hook default settings in adjusting multiple line parameters instead of just one.

How have you adjusted the line lengths? If you mean you have manually dragged the end of each line to get it the desired length then a better way is to select only the notes you want the pedal markings to apply to and those lengths do not change when you alter the hook orientation as I described.

That doesn't work well when there are multiple voices and/or the pedal points are aligned with the treble staff which is definitely the case here
Also musescore sometimes throws the end hook of a wrapped pedal to another line of the score. Especially if the end is near the start of a measure. It's quite tiring trying to fight it
