xml import, musicXml grace notes loaded incorrectly
Good evening,
I can't understand why grace notes often disappear or get moved in musicxml files.
Thanks

You xml won't open in my old copy of Sibelius. But when I export from MuseScore as uncompressed xml, that opens and the grace note is correct. so maybe format is an issue.

Who cares about import into Sibelus?
This .musicxml stems from Dorico and the OP wants to import it into MuseScore
MuseScore 3.6.2 imports it slightly different (but not really better) to 4.5.1 (but both far from Dorico):
And Capella Reader 8 imports it as as this (and comes quite close to Dorico, except for the beaming):
I'd say this is worth getting reported on GitHub

I used Sibelius as an example. The same way you used Capella Reader.
I can't tell from the OP what they want. Because if they are trying to replicate the Dorico image? Well that's isn't even real notation. Just try to put a grace note in front of a rest

I misread the Sibelius part, sorry. It doesn't read it all all?
How do you export that xml from MuseScore and have it working?
Capella imports it right, and look at the MusicXML file itself, it this seems valid.
But indeed MuseScore probably doesn't support grave notes on rests.
As said, worth reporting on GitHub

I presented this example but I have hundreds of them and the problem in MS is always given by grace notes followed by rests.
I write xml algorithmically and I need to understand where the problem is, museScore is my favorite software.
Thanks to everyone for the answer.
I don't know how to reporting on GitHub

See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/wiki/Reporting-bugs-and-issues
The problem indeed is that MuseScore doesn't allow for grace notes on rests, so it'd be a feature request rather than a bug report
And that has been requested already, see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/19701

the xml file was created in Dorico because Dorico always loads xml correctly even if created with other older software.
I often write xml in an algorithmic way and museScore gets the graces wrong, Dorico always reads everything correctly. at the moment I have no other software to try

thanks for the test in Sibelius, everything is useful. Probably the newer xml format is not supported

After more testing, Sibelius will allow grace notes before. But no matter how I export, MuseScore will not show grace notes before a rest.

I asume ...before rests?
Yes, see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/19701

Yes. Before rests. Slow brain. Or possibly, no brain.
