Mid-measure voltas?
Can you add a feature where you can place voltas in the middle of the measure?

This is not standard notation, and for good reason - it would likely cause confusion. But anyhow, you can make it happen anyhow, just split the measure at the desired point using Edit / Measures / Split.

Yes, but I was wondering if they could add it as an actual feature to add voltas mid-measure because this method just divides the measures into two different staves.
Also, I see this notation quite often in a lot of Breitkopf & Hartel and Barenreiter scores.

I'm wondering if there is a repeat in the middle of the measures you are talking about or where they are in the score. Perhaps a picture of a typical one with enough measures for us to see context would help.

Repeat barlines can be places in the middle of a measure, but then they won't play back. And voltas won't work there either

If you split the measure (in MuseScore) you can put the repeat in the middle of the measure. This is common in all music.

Sure, I know that. But you can even place a barline mid measure, by applying it to a chord rather than to the measure. Only then if won't affect playback, and still not work with voltas

I know you realize that Jojo, but I don't know what the OP knows. He's asking a rather vague question. A reply from him/her would help.

Not sure what you mean about splitting a measure dividing between staves - it might by default if the staff happens to end there, but you can play with the stretch settings and line breaks to aovid it it bothers you. Seems to me though if you are trying to convey a partial measure for volta purposes, there is no additional harm in having the halves of the measure on different staves. Would be useful to see examples of what you are talking about, though. I've never seen this used, and as I said, it really is non-standard.

You can also hide the barline, to render what you see in Breitkopf & Härtel and Bärenreiter scores
Hi drowssap,
A simple dirty hack is to change the time signature into two parts, so a 4/4 measure becomes 1/4 and 3/4. Or 6/8 to 2/8 and 4/8. Then volta whichever measure you need to. You could also check 'exclude from measure count' for one measure, to keep the same count. You could do the same where the volta ends.
Hope that helps,
Peter

No need for a changing (nominal) time sig, just split the measure, to change the actual duration of the measures., as mentioned 2 days ago already
