Beams - Inspector property "local relayout"
In the Beam section of the Inspector, there is a option named Local layoutændring (Local relayout).
I have not been able to find any mention of this in the Handbook, and it does not appear to have any effect whatsoever.
I have found the phrase 'Local relayout' in the guide on upgrading from version 1.x.

Is the option in the Beam section related to this?

That term crept into that document some 3 years ago, see https://musescore.org/en/node/17915/revisions/view/63946/64461, and is just plain wrong, not describing at all what this feature is meant for, which is about re-distributing notes under a common beam.
Beam a dotted 8th, a16th and an 8th, then toggle that re-layout to see the effect this is meant for.
Pretty good catch!

When I select the beam you describe, and toogle 'Local relayout', I don't see any effect at all.

Compare and
See https://musescore.org/en/developers-handbook/scrapbook#local-relayout
Added that to the handbook page for beam and tried to make that changes page clearer too
This is used when there are beams in two different instruments and the notes are moved in one of the intruments by MuseScore to show the proper relative locations of the notes according to when they are played. In this picuture:
You can see the 16th notes are irregularly spaced to indicate the notes are not played at the same time as the triplet and are technically correct to show the time at which they are played.
In this picture:
You can see the 16th notes have been proportionately spaced as though the triplet does not exist in the other instrument.
This works any time there is irregular spacing due to notation in another line, such as when there are accidentals or lyrics in another line.

Strange, this same discussion is going on in the Japanese forum right now.
I don't remember reading about this before even though I've read the entire handbook. I can replace the pictures with better ones. The ones I posted here are too obscure.

It wasn't in the handbook at all until about an hour ago

That's why the Japanese said they couldn't find it in the handbook.

I updated the handbook using jo-jo's example.
Does that hit the mark?
