how do I get a similar sound with the updated musescore 2.1 version, because it totally messes everything up as far as the sound I was going for....

with the updated musescore 2.1 version?? I guess you mean 2.2.1. And yes, you can get the same sound as in 2.1, if using the same soundfont

BTW, can you explain which specific sound(s) you are talking about? I don't see "Saw synthesizer" in your score, but if I add that instrument, I get a sound that does indeed sound like a sawtooth wave, which was the intent of the instrument. It sounded like a sawtooth wave in 2.1 as well, just not as full-sounding.

The bass synthesizer is a totally different instrument, but it too doesn't sound hugely different, just a fuller version of the same basic idea.

What would be more useful would be a simple example showing only the sound you feel is significantly different. As it is, there's a lot going on, and it's hard to be sure what you are referring to. That's why I did a test using only the "Saw synthesizer instrument". As mentioned, both 2.1 and 2.2 sound like they are supposed to. Not exactly the same of course, but both are clearly sawtooth waves. Just as no two clarinet players sound exactly the same, or no two pianos sound exactly the same, no two synthesizers sound exactly the same even when both set to produce sawtooth waves. Each adds its own idiosyncratic processing. And again, I'm not really hearing anything unusually different between 2.1 and 2.2 when I play, for example, a C major scale on both.
