Musescore 3
I hope Musescore 3 will have ability to import earlier musescore versions. to it's new format? I know Sibelius and Finale did. Also I know MS Office etc did too.

It may or may not, there's no guarantee whatsoever (of you're talking about development builds of the master branch, those are just for testing and not to be used for production)

I was wondering if bits and pieces of "Smart Layout" might be introduced in 2.2.2 or 2.2.3 before 3.0 is released?

Highly unlikely. The algorithm is so fundamentally different, it's kind of all-or-nothing. Plus we want to minimize the number of incompatibilities, and if lots of scores start looking different because of different default positions for things, that's not something I personally would feel comfortable with for a "minor" release.
There will, BTW, very likely be a 2.3 - that's already been announced.

I understand and agree with you. This is where a conversion process to new format without messing up the layout and other things needs to be preserved with lower versions for 3.0 and smart layout.

Musescore is a great superior program. Like all programs it has its limitations. I hope 3.0 will core program still works on my Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1) graphic chip set.
