Ties extending to notes not sellected
Hello,
I tried to search for this bug report bud found nothing.
Let's say I have two G notes in my measure. I select them both and then click the tie button. Those 2 G notes tie, OK, but then there is another (unwanted) tie extending outside of my measure. That unwanted tie will connect to the first G note in any of the following measures. So, if there are 4 measures without any G notes and the 5th measure has a G note, that unwanted measure will connect all the way across 4 measures to that G note in the 5th measure. Of course, that G note was never selected.
Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

You are doing something wrong... The tie command works in such a way that only the first note of the two notes to be tied, must be selected. What happens if you select both, is you tell MuseScore to make a tie from the first note to the next note of the same pitch and from the second note to the next note of the same pitch. What I percieve as a bug is that a tie can jump several different notes.

Thanks for the clarification. It was a bit puzzling to me, always having to undo all those extra ties.
I'm not sure what it meas that this behavior is by design. But if that's the case perhaps the way to address this is to have a setting in the preferences.

For the record, though, I would say that indeed you are doing it wrong :-). First, you shouldn't be entering the notes first and then tying them. You should be entering the ties as you go. Immediately after entering the first note, instead of entering the second note then going back to tie them, just press the tie button right away. This automatically enters the second note and ties them at once. But as mentioned already, if you have for whatever reason already entered the notes without a tie and then realize your mistake, or change your mind, and decide you want to tie them, simply select the first. It's possible someday this behavior will change, but I don't think it's worth cluttering the interface with another preference over - we should probably just change it to special-case this situation and avoid this surprise. Still, it's worth learning to do it correctly, since it's actually a lot less effort than what are doing here.
