MuseScore Playback Through VST .. Especially ARIA Player
Hello,
Has anyone really got MuseScore to work with VST, especially the Garritan ARIA Player?
I've followed the excellent tutorial by Lasconic and everything is loaded and showing as in his screenshots but there is no playback.
https://musescore.org/en/node/109216
I have "Jack" setup and loaded exactly as shown with "MuseScore" MIDI connected to the System MIDI and I have "Carla" opened with the "Garritan ARIA" player in the "Rack" and connected with MIDI ins and Audio outs.
The only thing I've picked up is that "Carla" is not showing by name in "Jack" together with the "MuseScore" and "System" MIDI already there ..... although I'm not entirely sure if it should be.
Anyway, as in my original question, does anyone actually have "MuseScore" working with VST?
I'd be grateful for any help/input with this.
Thank you.
Michael

I have no experience in that matter, but I do know that since 2.2 there no longer should be a need for Jack. You should now be able to directly connect the MuseScore MIDI out where it used to be Jack.

Hello Mike320,
Thanks for replying and your link.
I did study that post and checked settings but still no luck.
As mentioned previously it does seem that the problem is concerned with 'MuseScore' MIDI out not being recognised by 'Carla' as everything else seems to be functioning.
I could be wrong of course.

Hello jeetee,
Thanks for your reply; it's much appreciated.
I did try connecting directly using MuseScore's new MIDI out to replace 'Jack'. I made the connections in 'Carla' as before and opened the 'ARIA' Player interface there in Carla. On pressing the 'ARIA' keyboard it played beautifully directly in "Carla".
On returning to 'MuseScore' and pressing 'Play' there was no sound. This seems to be telling me that, for some reason, 'Carla' is not receiving the MIDI fom 'MuseScore'.
I don't think there should be any need for a virtual MIDI cable as I believe the new MIDI feature in 'MuseScore' should connect direct.
Check this tutorial, could be helpful - https://musescore.org/en/node/273531

Hello Daniel,
Thanks for yoiur reply. I followed that tutorial in detail and found a few missing things which has resulted in MuseScore playing back through ARIA Player.
However, only 8 instruments will play. I thought MuseScore supported 16 MIDI channels. My score has just 12 instruments so I thought this would be ok.
I'm hoping that yourself or any one reading this would have any further suggestions.

I have tried to connect Musescore with the Aria player without success. However, after I have finished writing a score I make a MIDI file from within Musescore then I add each instrument to the Aria player channels as indicated by the MIDI file. You can can improve the sound a great deal and make a recording by using the Aria player controls.
Cheers
