Two columns of lyrics in custom template
(TL;DR - Is there a way to have preconstructed text frames in custom template?)
Hi,
after solving one problem for other fellow musescorer in FB group, I found something interesting what is over my knowledge.
Problem of my fella was to insert two columns of lyrics below all the notation. We agreed that forum has answer for that (frames with text within a frame) and we were happy.
Though, I wasn't too happy that I have to do this whole procedure over and over for every new piece of the same kind, so I wanted to make a custom template. Saved in the path where it belongs in order to show up in start menu, so it did show up, but with no frames or text (other to the Composer, Lyricist etc.)
Is it meant to be that way, so the "customness" of my template is just what properties I applied to the notes, staves, instruments and so on, not looking at other entities of score, like text frames?
Thanks for the answer, hopefully more meaningful than my jibber-jabber :)

Frames are actually just a special type of measure internally, and as such are considered "content" as opposed to "structure". So just as none of the measures from your template make it into the score, nor do any of the frames. The title frame gets some special-casing to reproduce it.
While in general this is how one would want it most of the time, there certainly are cases where you might indeed want to keep some "content" (whether frames or regular measures) when creating a score from a template. While you can certainly just open the template normally then use "Save a Copy", I could imagine someday adding a flag to a score to say "when used as a template, copy at least some content as well". Not sure how it would work, really, but there have been other cases that have come up where it seemed a logical thing to want.

aaaalrighty, pretty well explained. Thanks, Marc :) of course, there is always option to save it as normal file, open the same file every time and before even starting to notate i can just Save as.. as new document and "template" is unchanged - well besides the date of change probably. i was just curious if im missing something. i was, but no longer am :D thanks again for the response.
