albums/joining scores

I have a multi-movement work where I've created the different movts on different files. I can join these into an album, but each movement starts on a new page, whereas what I would like to do is have a new movement start immediately after/below the preceding one (wherever that might be on the page) so there isn't a blank space. Is this possible?

You have a choice to insert a page break inside the album manager or to deactivate it, before you join the scores.
If you didn't activate this option and there's still space left after joning, then there isn't enough space left for the next system and you've to change properties like staff/system distances, scaling and so on.

thanks kuwitt. I'm deactivating both page and system breaks and then printing but it's still coming out with each piece starting on a new page although there's definitely room on the previous page for several more systems. so I'm not sure what's going wrong. is it perhaps that I have to do the 'join scores' bit, save the complete score, then print from the saved score?

Not sure, but I don't think. Is there are difference, if you join and save the score and open this saved file; does it work inside the application?
Maybe you could also check your page settings or maybe your printer settings.
It's difficult to say without seeing the score, so maybe attache the files here to reproduce (if they are larger scores, you could save a selection of the scores, for example the last page of a single score and the first page of the next single score).

if I try to save the file (to Desktop, just to see what happens with that), and then try to open it, the application Musescore opens but then a message tells me the file can't be read/is of unknown type. so I don't see how to save it and then open it (?). I've attached a couple of the files as PDFs, so you can see there's room for more systems of the same size at the end of each piece.

After pressing the button "join" a window appears "save album into score". Did you save this file with the extension mscz?
Please attache the files as mscz so that's possible to have a look inside the page settings of the score or check yourself the settings there.
A reason could be that it seems you're using for the second score another scaling ("stave space") as for the first score (?).
