Note names

Is it possible to add the name of the notes, preferably adjacent to the note head? I found a plug-in that replaces the head with its respectable letter, but I want to keep the layout as it is, and add the note letter to all- and/or individual notes.
I know this can be done manually, but that takes longer time than writing the code. :P
