I am using a MacBook Pro and I am having the same issue.

I've got a Workaround!
1. Hold down the power button for at least 5 seconds. This will cause the computer to shut down immediately.
2. Hit the power button again and this will power the device on again.
3. Login to your Mac.
4. Open the application "MuseScore".
5. The application should launch and function normally!

Hi! Is it a joke? :)
I don't have this issue on my MacBook Pro 2018 with Mojave 10.14.2.
Probably, resetting to factory settings will make it work.
The instruction is here

Actually, no!
Try restarting your Mac then launch the application.

Worth a try but does not work for me.
Does it ask about sending the report? If so, could you please copy paste the content here?
In reply to Does it ask about sending… by Anatoly-os
It does and it states:
"MuseScore 3 quit unexpectedly." I don't remember anything after that.

I tried rebooting the Mac but that didn't address the issue. The program seems to open, then another window with recent scores opens and it then crashes. I'm using Mac High Sierra 10.13.6 FYI

I think the problem with Web engine still exists. Running with "no start center" flag should fix the issue (see the revert to factory settings instructions, but use "-s" instead). Could you try please and after success running uncheck the "Show start center" in Preferences. After that, running MuseScore should happen smoothly.

-s is without Sound, you mean -w, without WebEngine

Actually, there is an easier solution. Just open a file. Uncheck the mentioned "show start center" flag and restart MuseScore.

see #285057: MuseScore 3.0.4 on macOS is crashing on startup.
Is there likely to be a fix soon for this? If not can we re-install the previous version?

There should, but in the meantime, look up "MuseScore 3.0.2".
Hope that helps!

Good idea. Btw, only some Mac users who installed 3.0.3 at February, 27 and then upgraded are affected. Please don't ask why :)

for me works:
/Applications/MuseScore\ 3.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -w
turn off "Show start center" in preferences

Don't forget to turn off "Show start center" checkbox. Or you mean after 10 minutes of work in the editor? It could be different case...

when i run it i get "No device selected. PortAudio detected 2 devices. Will use the default device (index 1)." in the terminal, not sure what that issue means
I just installed update 3.0.4.21117 on an iMac running Mojave 10.14.3. The application crashed immediately upon opening.
I used the "fix" of opening the app by selecting a file which worked. I de-selected the "Show Start Center" on opening and the app will open properly, but when I choose Open Start Center from the menu, the app immediately shuts down.
putting this in separate comment thread: tried using /Applications/MuseScore\ 3.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -w and MuseScore still won't even open for me to turn off any checkbox. getting "No device selected. PortAudio detected 2 devices. Will use the default device (index 1)." attached screenshot

Same error when trying open it, OS Mojave. Before last update crash while shutting down MuseScore but now it's impossible to open it.
Could anyone please test the pre-release version of MuseScore 3.0.5 on macOS and confirm that enabling Start Center doesn't crash the editor? This is the .dmg which can be tested and then removed: https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/musescore-nightlies/macosx/MuseScoreNightly-….

I tried installing this update and the program seems stable. But the application still reads 3.0.3 (I reverted to an older version when the update was crashing). Maybe I'm missing something here.
