Supported instruments (Erhu)
I downloaded a soundfont called Asian Dreamz by DSK because I needed a few Asian instruments, including an Erhu. It is pretty decent, although it's hard to make it sound realistic. I found this page (https://musescore.org/en/instruments) in which the Erhu is mentioned. I don't exactly understand what that list is for. How do I get to that Erhu in the list? Also, any suggestions about making it sound more realistic? Thanks!

If you use the search box at the bottom of the list of available instruments you can search for any instrument on that list and add it to MuseScore. In the case of Erhu, since it's not part of the GM Standard, you will need to open the mixer and assign the proper sound to it.
When you load the soundfont, if you want default sounds to still work, move your Asian one down somewhere below the first one so the common instruments will sound right.
As far as making it sound better. I have no idea how real Erhu sounds or what it sounds like in your soundfont. You can open the Synthesizer and adjust the master effects to see if it will improve the sound. If there is something you want to change about the sound that's not included in the synthesizer, then tell us what it is and we'll see if anyone has a way to improve it.

It sounds like a dark (or sordino'd) Fiddle.
or, like a Turkish instrument, "Kabak kemane"
Usually a lot of vibrato is used.

Thank you so much for your answer. I'm not sure I understand the first part though. I am trying to find 'Erhu' under the Patch list in the Mixer (see attached screenshot). I'm not sure you are referring to the same screen. I guess I don't understand what the list in the web page is for (in my original post). What do they mean by " instruments supported"? My guess is that it doesn't mean they are available out of the box. Just supported if you add them from somewhere else? Of course I can find the Erhu patch once I add the 3rd-party soundfont in the synthesizer. Sorry for the confusion.

Edit---> Instruments---> World Instruments---> Ehru. It is supported means that there are xml definitions for the instrument; part id, range. transpose etc and a name shows in the mixer, though it is linked to "fiddle" as shown. There is no native patch.

Sorry, I started mid thought because EVERYONE knows you press i to open the instruments dialog to add a new instrument. I know that's not true, I need to remember to give all of the instructions.

Thank you so much! That helped me a lot. I usually compose for the piano only, so even though I've used Musescore for years, I had never really played with other instruments.
