Advice? Musescore 3 installation error: 3 api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-o.dll
Today I tried to download and use Musescore 3.0.2. Once files were installed, tried to open it and got the message
'The program can't start because api-ms-win-rt-heap-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.'
I assumed they meant Musescore 3 itself, so downloaded again / repaired, but got the same error message.
I'm up for following the online tutorials to get this file and put it where it needs to go on my computer, but wondering if there's a quick fix via Musescore itself (or if I downloaded the wrong version of Musescore, or if this is a bug that is on its way to being fixed).
Thanks for any help,

Google that dll and find some MSVC runtime distributable from Microsoft
Also search this forum here.

I looked into this a bit, uninstalled the 64 bit version on my (64 bit!!) machine. I then downloaded the 32 bit version, installed it, and it runs like a dream......
Yes, of course the 64 bit version SHOULD run on a 64 bit machine but it doesn't - fortunately the 32 bit version does!!
By the way, I found, downloaded and installed the "missing" dll, and it made precisely zero difference! - The only thing that worked was the 32 bit version......
I hope this helps you all!!

Did you install the MSVS runtime stuff suggested on the linked article?

I ended up installing a 2015 version of (MS Free Time? Real Time? Media Player? I already forget its name), which apparently had the file I needed, the api-ms-win etc. Musescore 3 is up and running!

Maybe you mean Microsoft Visual C++ 2015? If yess, I did solve this problem too with this 13mb installer.

Yes, got to be that.
But some software brings this along with it.

Yes I did - Absolutely no difference! And since the "percieved" gain of the 64 bit program is completely negated by it not actually running at all, I will "put up with" the "slightly lower performance" of a 32 bit program. (Although, of course, 100% of a 32 bit program is arguably somewhat better than 0% of a 64 bit program!)
Interestingly, however, having installed the 64 bit version on my OTHER (64 bit, but this time Win 10, instead of Win 8.1) machine, it installed and runs like a charm! - I'm starting to suspect the OS is the culprit rather than the program. - However as I said, if you can't get the 64 bit to work, try the 32 bit!!.........
