Free Soundfont with Improved Guitar Sounds
I have downloaded a soundfont from
https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/
and installed it in MS 2.3.2. It has some quite decent nylon guitar sounds but I'm just wondering what will happen if I upload a score with one of these guitars selected and someone plays it without the same soundfont installed.

This is "THE" aeternal problem with all the MIDI World!!!
Unfortunately, MuseScore doesn't include, inside its files, the soundfont the user is using.
And, I don't know if some other MIDI software does it. I guess not.
I guess the main reason is to avoid to increase the size of the files (if the user is using a soundfont with 1 GB size, all this additional data would be added to the file, regardless the fact the score itself is more small than that).

So will it fail to playback at all, or will it revert to the standard nylon guitar?

Your file will sound with the nearest sound the other people has installed in the PCs he/she is using!!!
Worst, if the other people is using a soundfont file which doesn't have any guitar sound... The final sound will be... Who knows? ???

Mmm, I'd better keep the extra soundfont for my own use.
I can recommend the soundfont Guitars-Universal-V1.5.sf2 as it has some really nice guitars from various types: acoustic, electric, nylon and jazz.
If you upload it to musescore.com with the audio people will be able to hear the soundfont.

Thanks, I'll look into doing this.
