Add option to disable autocorrect with Chord Symbols

• Apr 30, 2019 - 17:40

I suggest that there be another radio button option (e.g., none) under "Note spelling" in the styles settings for Chord Symbols to disable auto-spelling all together. That would allow the Chord Symbols feature in the score to be used for other purposes besides Chord symbols, (e.g., lyrics over rests). It almost works as it is now. However, spaces between some letters are automatically removed--for example "Di mi", the space forced with ctrl+spacebar, becomes "Dimi". Whereas the space is retained in "Ta ka". Changing the Chord Symbol style in inspector to something like "Lyrics" doesn't disable autospelling.

Thanks, Sam

PS: Is there anyway other way to force a space in Chord Symbols?

Cool. What is the best method of adding lyrics to rest? Do you first enter the lyrics over the notes and then add lyrics to the rests with ctrl+L after selecting a rest? Or is there a keyboard shortcut one can use while typing syllables over notes to include the next rest so doesn't have to break the flow of entry?

The way to add lyrics is to always enter your notes, then add the lyrics.

Rests and lyrics is a little bit limited. You need to specifically select a rest you want to put a lyric on, press ctrl+L then add the lyric. The idea is that normally lyrics are only on notes, so they are skipped in lyric entry. You have to tell MuseScore there is no doubt you want a lyric on a rest. There are other issues with dashes and melismas, but it would seem weird to me to need a dash or melisma before a lyric on a rest.
