Version 3.1 Melisma problem?
In this snippet, it looks to me like the melisma is running into the next word. I have not touched any default settings that should affect melismas or lyrics. The score the picture came from is attached.

This comment is perhaps irrelevant because my 3.1 is dated.
If I zoom in it seems regular.
Is it perhaps a problem related to the scaling factor (0.900)?

The picture I inserted was taken at about the same zoom as yours. I wonder if this is a windows only issue?
Scaling factor! Perhaps. I was thinking zoom. This section is taken from a much larger piece. The scaling factor is so I can fit one system on a page.

It sounds weird, but it could be. I made a comparison and tonight I'll try to exhume Win10. But in the meantime someone else might comment
3.1 is more efficient about lyrics spacing by default - allowing tighter spacing. This was a bug in 3.0.5 that always added additional space on top of the min note distance. Now there is a separate min distance parameter for lyrics that defaults to zero, but you can increase it if you prefer more space.
See #284235: Too much space between lyrics for more info. If people agree, we could certainly up the default setting a bit. But the complaint we got was that there was too much space in 3.0 compared to 2.3.2, and the setting of 0 makes it more like 2.3.2, but better because we do at least force space for dashes.
Anyhow, it is the spacing that is affecting the melisma. Another way to see this - if you add a little stretch to the 3.1 version, you get more space and it resembles the 3.0.5 version. Conversely, decreasing stretch in 3.0.5 makes it looks more like 3.1.

@Mike320, sorry I'm late.
I've updated (but not finished) Win 10 and MuseScore.
The attachment is as it appears in 3.1 with the basic settings.
If it can be useful for a comparison.

Thanks Shoichi, I appreciate it. I'm familiar with options to make it look better by changing settings. I think MuseScore should display it correctly any way.

Sure. If I can convince Mint 64bit to correctly launch 3.1.0 (currently each icon occupies the entire screen) I'll look at what it shows. But I'll need time...
