Version 3.1

• Jun 3, 2019 - 19:10

I have dabbled in MuseScore for a few years. I just wanted to say that with 3.1 and the improved HQ sound font, MS has come along way. Thanks to everyone for putting so much into this project.
I see there is a forum to post scores, but how about a forum to post sound files also.

The "Made with MuseScore" forum predates musescore.com and scores are welcomed here. When you use Save online from the program, you have the option of uploading the audio if you do not use the default soundfont. This uploads an MP3 (generated by musescore) of the score to MuseScore.com along with the score. You can then download this MP3 from MuseScore.com.

If you used the Made With MuseScore forum to upload an MP3 of a score made with MuseScore, I don't think anyone would object. It would be made with MuseScore wouldn't it?

Yes, made in MuseScore.
All I'm thinking is that while MuseScore is primarily for notation (duh), The new version and HQ sound font is surprisingly good. I was greatly pleased with the mp3 I got from a simple score. The score itself is unremarkable. Nothing to be learned from it. But what MuseScore did with it using just two sounds was interesting. I didn't see any sound file extensions in the Made With MuseScore forum. I'm not interested in selling music. I write for the fun of it. It's therapy for me.
And it seems to me that a score might not always mean too much to someone who has a different version and sound font. I'm used to marking a score the way I need to get the software to playback the way I want, rather than marking it properly for real players. I know how, but have no illusions that anyone will ever play what I write. That's not what's important to me. After all, isn't music meant to be heard?

Unless you're a musician then it's to be played :-)

So if you don't care if people see your score, just upload the mp3 you get when you export and select mp3 as the file type (the dropdown below the file name).
