MuseScore 3.1 Portable AppImage rear behaviour

• Jun 6, 2019 - 20:28

Hi, Gang!!!

I use Musescore 3.1 Portable AppImage in Ubuntu Studio 18.04.2 (64 bit Linux).

I discovered a very rear behaviour which was not present before. But I don't know if it is inherent to the Linux Portable AppImage version only, because I don't use any other system to compare this...

The issue is... Whatever the score is, when we are editting a note, and this action changes something related with the general format size of the score (less space between notes or less notes by line, or whatever like that)... Musescore jumps to another page of the score and we were... Lost in the universe!

It is a little bit hard to know where exactly we are editing (I worked around it just play the piece from that last edited note).

Is it a bug?

Is it something related with the Linux AppImage only?

Is there some fix to this?

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

Juan

I can imagine things like you describe happening and have maybe seen it here or there, but I can't make it happen on command. Can you, and if so, can you share the score and steps?

I see what you mean. If I do Ctrl+F, 72 and let MuseScore select the first note of the first staff in that measure, then hit Ctrl+Down to transpose it down, this pushes the lyrics down just enough that the system no onger fits and thus gets pushed to the next page, and the score view does not follow. Not Linux only. Feel free to submit this as a bug to the issue tracker. In theory we should be able to follow the measure, but I'm guessing what happens is that we are trying to track the old location. And actually, from what I know of this code, it may or may not be easy to fix. But it will help to have an issue anyhow.
