Where are Volta Brackets (Repeat Endings)?

• Jun 10, 2019 - 13:15

I couldn't find Volta Brackets (Repeat Endings) at "Palette - Repeats & Jumps".

Where are those?

For starters, they have already had their right sides dragged at least. It probably doesn't matter in this case since you will not likely use playback (unless the chord realization gets merged and you use that), but it won't playback correctly. You need to select all of the measures you want the volta to cover, then double click it in the palette.

The reason volta 2 it higher is that the 2 is wider than the 1 and MuseScore know this. To avoid a collision, MuseScore moves the 2nd volta up. You can either double click the volta and drag the left end a little so auto place allows the volta to move down, or select the chord symbol and press the right arrow until the volta can move down. I pressed the arrow once and can hardly tell I move the chord symbol. You may want to move both symbos to the right a little so the . doesn't look like part of the letter.

As mentioned, the collision is why the position is different, so if you want the position consistent, change your style settings to avoid the collisions. For example, you could set the default "X" offset of the volta to be -0.5 sp. Or you could see the "X" offset for chord symbols to be 0.5 sp. Or you could decide you'd rather have the voltas always high, and set the default "Y" offset accordingly.
