Multiple hairpins on same mote
Is it possible to have a long note with multiple hairpins to enable cresc/dims across the course of the note? I can only work out how to apply a hairpin to an entire note, not e.g. half its duration, or how to start a hairpin halfway through its duration.

Yesn't.
Add rests in an unused voice, make them invisible. Attach hairpins to rests.
