As far as I can tell from the video, you aren't selecting the range correctly. Looks like instead you are selecting the two notes individually (e.g., with Ctrl+click). You need a range selection, with blue rectangle, for copy & paste. So, click one note, Shift+click the next, or use Shift+arrow to extend selection, or Shit+drag to select - any of the ways of creating range selections.
And I definitely recommend spending some time reading the Handbook and/or watching tutorial videos to get a better handle on basic operations like this.
