Alternative Program to MuseScore
Lately I have not been using MuseScore because of the fact that I cannot use just plain samples, so I have tried transitioning to OpenMPT. But the problem is, I'm not a big fan of tracker based music programs. So what I am looking for is an alternative program to MuseScore, where you can use samples and write in a score based manner.

Can you explain what you mean about "plain samples"? Playback using something some special technology other than standard soundfont or MIDI?

What you you propose MuseScore do with that WAV file? Just play it when a particular note is played? It's possible to set up a sounfont to do that, or to use the "MDL Sampler" instrument for that.
Or simply use the MIDI output from MsueScore to drive your favorite MIDI-compatible sample player.
