playback distortion
Hi,
Still getting playback distortion. It sounds like there is a scratch on the record (for those that remember vinyl). Its every beat (and its not the metronome). When I enter a note using the piano keyboard it sounds OK, but playback is distorted. I have just uninstalled Muse 2.1 and reinstalled and the fault in still persisting. Music In you tube plays OK so its no the sound card. There is definately something in MuseScore. I have tried to play with the synthesiser and volume control and they have no effect. I have tried to change instruments and it is there on all of them. Its almost as if there is a phantom stave or track being played. It used to work fine a while ago.
Does anyone have any suggestions.

Additional info, I was wrong when I enter a note either on the piano keyboard or directly on the staff with the mouse it plays a distorted sound.

Do you see the meter in synthesizer to constantly be up in red? If so reduce volume.
If that doesn't help, please share the score and tell us with OS and version of MuseScore you're using

Hi,
Thanks for continuing to help.
I uninstalled Musescore and deleted all the files that I could find in the program files directory as well as the user directory then reinstalled. Same problem. I installed MuseScore an an old laptop and it plays the attached score without problems.
I am using Windows 10 Home 64 bit.

Hi,
I tried that. I also uninstalled and deleted all the muse score files that were left over and reinstalled from a new download. None of them made any difference.
In answer to other suggestions I also made a .wav file and it played back through windows media player without any problem. It would appear rthe problem is after tone generation when the sound is sent to the sound card. The distortion sounds like there is an interrupt or long delay which causes the tone to be broken up. This may be a problem with the versions of Windows 10 as there have been some big updates over the last few weeks.
If you export as an audio .wav file and play the .wav in Windows Media Player, do you still hear the distortion?

When you open menu item: Edit -> Preferences, then on the I/O tab - what 'Device' do you see listed? Have you tried using a different one?

Hi,
There are several devices listed and I have tried each of them to no avail, rebooting MS each time.
I have exactly the same problem with my MAC. the sound is only distorted when I use Musescore. I had 2 and it was fine, but since I installed 3 its been problem.

I tried all the solutions offered. In the end I got so fed up with all the other problems I was having with windows 10 and bought a Mac. Problems solved.
Same issue here, Windows 10 64b.
Any solution/suggest?
