Select->Tools->Implode->Copy&Paste?

I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to work. It will copy individual lines, but each successive line overwrites the previous one.

First: Tools->Voices->Exchange. Then copy.

I think you probably skipped the "Implode" step. It combines the selected staves onto one, using multiple voices..
