Select the range you want to remove, then Tools / Remove Selected Range, or the shortcut Ctrl+Delete.

Where is there the selection tool? The curser only creates notes.

click the first note then shift+click the last

When I click new notes appear. How do I choose just the curser without notes appearing?

Leave note input mode by pressing Esc. And read the Handbook sections having to do with selection.
