How to Prevent Staff Overlap (specifically with dynamics involved)?
This is probably just a simple question, but I came across this problem in my writing recently and can't seem to figure out a solution. I've tried increasing the distance between the staves but the dynamics always seem to overlap (the upper part is horns 3/4 and the lower is tbn 1). Only when I increase the distance to a little extreme do the dynamics get out of the way. I realize that the simple answer is to just not write it that register but it's the voicing that I want and would rather not do that option. Any ideas?

Autoplace should prevent this from happening. please share a sample score, so we can check why it does not

Unless you're in continuous view?

I am. The score is attached. The overlap happens in measures 12-13 in the lower horns and trombone 1.

In continuous mode this will happen indeed. Use a spacer to avoid it or use page mode (and larger paper)

Thanks so much! Where would I go to find a spacer? And what size would you recommend for a full band score?

In the breaks and spacers palette
A3 might be a size (but requires to reduce staff space too)

That solved it perfectly. I can't thank you enough!
