In choosing an instrument voice, in the plucked instruments there is no capacity for MANDOLIN, my main instrument.

How do I get accompanying violins etc to play pizzicato
I can't find that in the Palette, unless I'm being very unobservant

It is in the palette for sure, maybe only in the advanced one

Or click "More" in the Articulation palette to display more symbols, which you can then also drag up to the main part of the palette.
To switch to the Advanced workspace - which contains much fuller palettes all around - see the control at the right hand side of the main toolbar.
