3.4.1 on OSX - Clicking in empty white areas of the page no longer cancels a selection!
I just downloaded the update for:
OS: macOS High Sierra (10.13), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.1.25011, revision: 20414b2
After having selected anything on the page it normally turns blue to indicate it has been selected. I used to be able to just click anywhere in an empty white area around the page to cancel this selection. This no longer works and now I have to click a hundred times till I luckily find one random spot in a white area where it might cancel my selection.
Ideas?
P.S. this software is absolutely amazing. I learnt it in a day and have been writing charts for my band for the past few weeks. Amazing stuff. Thank you for making this available to the public for free. It's truly inspiring!

Still works for me, MuseScore 3.4.1 too, but Windows 7. Pressing Esc does the same thing BTW

excellent the Esc key works thanks. I'm also discovering that double-clicking in white areas will also work sometimes but unreliable. In terms of work-flow and the number of times that you have to click on a page while working, clicking once in a white area is definitely the fastest but at least there's a workaround for now.
Thanks again!

As written, single click still works for me

I'm glad it's working for you in WIndows. On my Mac Mini however it's not working. I'm using the escape key for now as a workaround. I also have MuseScore on another computer (macbook pro) and I have decided not to update so I don't have this annoying bug.
I also reported this problem recently ( Nov 27, 2019 - 18:26), that I can't get out of edit mode by pressing esc or clicking on an empty part of the score. Right now I'm editing a score stuck in edit mode, the only way to get out is to close and reopen it. Musescore 3.4.1.25011 and OS 10.16.6. Thanks.

heheh I believe you can go and edit your original post if you made a typo :-)

only for a certain time
Works properly for me, 3.4.1, Mac Catalina.
I think perhaps you are moving the mouse ever so slightly while clicking the button. If you hold the mouse absolutely still, I think you will find that one click is all it takes. Of course, this is a real accessibility concern, and I take this issue very seriously. MuseScore used to be more forgiving about this until a recent change of mine. This is an unfortunate side effect of that change, and I intend to fix this as soon as possible. I only wish I had seen this report earlier.

No worries Matt thank you very much for your reply. I actually downgraded fromj 3.4.1 back to 3.3 to avoid this problem and then I tried 3.4.2 when it came out to see if it was fixed. It had improved slightly and yes there is a possibility that I might be moving the mouse ever so slightly and not noticing it. I tested this now several times to see if it's correct and I can safely say that when I consciously try my best to keep the mouse still while clicking in a white empty area, I am able to clear the selection more reliably.
Thanks!
On my win 10 3.4.2.9788 the first click has no impact (except to perhaps "activate" the score?) but a 2nd click clears it.
To be clear, I am talking about cancelling a "select whole score (part): for transfer purposes.
