Paste lyrics from clipboard - bug

• Feb 3, 2020 - 17:18

Hello All,

I'm new of this group and of MuseScore too...
I'm pasting the lyrics into a score from a text file which includes already dashes and melismas.
Every time I paste a melisma the next paste repeats the last letters of the melisma instead of moving forward with the next word.
Let's try to get you an example:
If I do paste "sco_re and" the result will be "sco_re re and".
This is very annoying because I have to undo and then restart pasting.
Any one has a clue?

Thank you everyone in advance!

Not sure if this is the same bug because I do not use a double underscore.
I'm attaching three pictures:
1) Expected behavior
2) What is going to be pasted while I'm doing Ctrl-V
3) Final result (The "and" is duplicated. Everything else is moved one note to the right)
and the text file used to copy from.

Hope you'll be able to reproduce it.
Thank you a lot!

Like I said, it works differently here. I copy the staff text and when I paste it I get measure 10.

I only notice that before doing Ctrl+V on the fourth note of the first measure a double misaligned melism appears and disappears moving to the subsequent note.

(Save the attachment *.png rename it by deleting .png and you should be able to watch it as video)

I agree. Here, before doing Ctrl+V on the fourth note of the first measure a double misaligned melism appears after "ma_and" then disappears moving to the subsequent note but "ma_and" remains on the third note. With the next Ctrl-V the fourth note gets a duplicate "and" word.
I tried to make a video but I think is too big to attach it, even changing the extension type as PNG. Don't know how to make it smaller, but I'm sure you understood how it works here.
Do you think there is a small chance to get this fixed and when, may be?
Thank you

Oh ok, got it!
In the meantime I think I found a quick and dirt workaround. Please try replacing the standard underscore with this character: ˍ
I found it using the Windows Character Map and it is called "Modifier Letter Low Macron" with a hex value of 02CD instead of the standard underscore 005F.
It looks pretty nice in the lyrics as in my example number 2 measure 10.
Hope some experts can fix it with the usage of the standard underscore though :-)

BTW, you could also use this character: ˽ which is the Modified Letter Shelf (02FD).

I'm not really following because I don't see any actual melismas anywhere. But consider: within MuseScore, it always takes two underscores to create a melisma. The same is true when pasting external text.

Hi Marc, you are totally right here, In fact I used a wrong term: Melisma. Instead I meant Elision (Lyric) slur / Synalepha.
Reading more carefully the Handbook https://musescore.org/en/handbook/lyrics I found:
[two syllables under a note can be joined with an elision slur, also known as a "lyric slur" or "synalepha".]

In the text I use to copy and paste to MuseScore Lyrics the "lyric slur" is indicated with an underscore. Therefore when I paste it I get the issue I described before.
I believe the right solution is replacing all the underscores in my text file with an elision character and then proceed with the copy/paste into MuseScore lyrics.
Thank you a lot for pointing this out!
