Multiple parts on one page

• Aug 25, 2016 - 21:29

I have recently completed an arrangement of "Build Me Up Buttercup" as a stand tune for my marching band, and when looking through the individual parts (the ones created through file->parts) I realized that none of them take up a full page, and most of them take up less than half the page.

I was wondering if there was a way, to save paper when printing, to combine two parts on to one page or to have the same part displayed twice on the same page (with the title and part name displayed again as well so the top and bottom half of the page would look identical).

I don't think there is a decidated function in MuseScore to accomplish this, but you should be able to create customised 'two-up' pages to print by saving the exported parts as new files, and then appending enough blank measures to each to accept a paste-in of the second part you want to add.

Alternatively, you could select a smaller paper size (Layout>Page Settings>Page size) (or create a custom page size) which corresponds to the size you want to print, and then use your printer-driver's Preferences options to print 2 pages per 8.5x11 sheet.

MuseScore already provides the ability to specify a custom page size, and all operating systems / printer drivers should provide the option to print 2-up. I don't think anby additional features are needed to accompliush this task; better for MuseScore developers to focus their efforts on providing functionality that the oepraitng systemn does *not* already provide for you.
