Problem(s) with local time signature

• Mar 26, 2020 - 21:38

I am trying to change a local time signature from 4/4 to 2/4 for 1 measure but I cannot figure out how to do it. I have now spent probably 2 hours to do this (I have tried out many things myself and followed the guidelines about this problem on the web, none of this works), and it is getting on my nerves. What the manual says does not work either. I have also seen on the internet that I am not the only one who has this problem. Actually, I really think there is a bug (or there are some bugs) here. And if there are no bugs, then the way to do it is so obscure that it is not workable (IMHO). A pity because I generally love MuseScore.
I am using MuseScore version 3.4.2.9788

And https://musescore.org/en/handbook/time-signatures#local-time-signatures doesn't help there?

Hold down Ctrl (Mac: Cmd) and drag and drop a time signature from a palette onto an empty measure.

Which steps did you use (and didn't work) and where did you find them? What error did you get?

Local time signatures do not work on scores that have parts generated already BTW (something that needs to get added to the handbook I guess) Also the measures affected by it need to be empty (also not yet mention in the handbook, but the error message clearly states that))

No the information in this link does not help. When I drop a time signature on a measure MuseScore says the measure is not empty. It even says when I drop it on a measure I have just added. Sometimes, MuseScore does not say anything but I also do not see a new local time signature. Furthermore, I now have multiple full rests in every measure after the measure where I dropped the local time signature.

Now I understand. I did not pay proper attention to the text in the manual. A local time change is only meant ot be used for one of the two staffs of the grand staff. For what I want I can simply drop a new time signature on the grand staff and change it back to the original later whenever i Want. My apologies and thanks for your help.
