Jazz analysis - arrows and brackets
Hey all,
I'm looking for a way to add brackets and arrows (solid or dotted) to chord symbols for jazz analysis, as in the image attached. So far I've considered faking it with pedals, slurs and arrowheads, but that's not really viable when I change anything in the score etc., not to mention it takes forever. Any thoughts of a way to add custom symbols, and to have them lock to a chord symbol instead of a note?

Actually using lines (not specifically pedals, but plain text lines with possibly added hooks or begin/end text) strikes me as a good way to do the lines shown here. They should be very simple to add and would survive layout changes very well. Same with slurs really, but there wouldn't be a good way of getting the arrows. Still, attaching to a note is good, then just adjust the position and it looks like it's attached to the chord, and unless you change the relative position of the chord, nothing else would cause problems.

Could you teach me how you inserted the circle and wrote it in the attached file?
Would you like to insert this circle in a sticky note for a didactic explanation?
How did you say the arrows how could we create for didactic purposes too?

Hi! Unfortunately I don't really understand your questions here. But will say, what is being discussed in this thread is about creating lines - both straight and curved - that have arrows at the end but are ordinary lines otherwise, meaning they automatically resize as the score layout changes.
The circle if fifths diagram I created by first making a text element with a round frame to produce the circle, then adding a bunch more text elements for the note names and positioning them manually.
