I have an issue with the attached song when it plays back.
There are 3 verses so I set the repeat count on the last bar to 3.
When it is sung, after the third chorus, I want to repeat the chorus and then the Coda.
So what I want is:
verse 1, chorus, verse 2 chorus, verse 3 chorus, chorus, coda.
So I added DS al Coda at the last bar of the chorus, and put the Segno at the start of the chorus.
When it plays back, the DS al Coda has no effect, on the third chorus it simply moves direct to the Coda.
What have I done wrong?
Is it that the last bar repeat count and the last bar DS al Coda are mutually exclusive?
You have no 'to coda' so the 'DS al coda' is incomplete and doesn't execute.
The good news is that you don't even need a coda for your desired playback. All I did was open up your score, removed the 'DS al coda' and dragged-n-dropped a normal 'DS' on the last measure of that repeat.
Of course, when the Coda is the next bar, it's silly to say "Go to Coda". Hadn't realised I'd forgotten the "To Coda". Had I put that in as required, I would have had to put it in the same bar as the DS al Coda and that would have warned me I was about to make a mistake.
