Custom palette - cannot add custom time signature
I discovered (Ok, was informed) that it is possible to create a custom workspace and then edit existing palettes.
So, I created a new workspace based on the advanced workspace.
I then opened the time signature palette.
I clicked on a time signature in my score - 3/2 - and tried to drag it onto the palette => didn't work.
Read better the instructions, held down Ctrl + Shift and tried to drag it onto the palette => still didn't work.
Even tried variations, releasing the mouse first and then the keys, first the keys and then the mouse, all together => nope, didn't work.
Is this a bug or by design ?

Probably, you have forgotten to enable the palettes editing.
So: right-click on a palette, and tick: "Enable Editing"

Which version of MuseScore do you use ? On which OS?
If you created a custom workspace and enable the palette editing, you should be able to drag and drop new elements from the master palette of from the score (with Ctrl/Cmd + Shift) in MuseScore 2.0.3 on all supported platforms.

This is exactly what I did, but unable to do it with a time signature.
Have you been able to achieve this with a time signature ?

Yes. Can you post a screenshot with the right click menu for the Time Signatures palette open, so we can verify you have really enabled editing? Also a screenshot of the Master Palette with the Time Signatures section open and the specific time signature you are trying to add selected, so we can see what that looks like.
EDIT: I see you are trying to drag *from your score*. That is indeed not possible for time signatures, I think - you need to drag from the Master Palette.

Ok, don't need to go any further, I think.
I had not understood that it was possible to define new time signatures in the master palette.
Have just found this and it is exactly what I needed.
I was indeed trying to drag time signatures from the score onto the custom workspace palette.
Now I create the one I need in the master palette and drag it onto my custom one.
This has solved my need.
Do you require anymore info ?
I have this problem in Musescore 4.
I'm trying to create a custom palette which contains all the various things I use the most, including early music time signatures.
I can add a new time signature in the Time Sigs palette. I can also add it to the Master Palette. But then when I try to drag the new time sig (from either Master Palette or the Time Sigs palette), it doesn't work. And when using the 'More' function, the custom time signature is not there in the Tim Sig page.
I'm stuck... any thoughts?
Thanks

Works fine here (version 4.2, Windows10)
Are you sure that "Enable editing" is ticked ? Click on the three dots "..." in front the Palette name to check this.
And no need to open "More".

Should have mentioned I'm on Mac. I didn't have the problem with Windows.

It’s a sporadic problem that seems to happen every once in a great while in all systems. As mentioned, just try restarting.

Every once in a while it seems the palettes get locked and drag stops working. Try closing and reopening them, or quit/restart MuseScore. I’ve had it happen a couple of times but it always fixes itself before I can figure out what triggered it.

Thanks Marc. I did as you suggest ( and upgraded to 4.2.1) and it partially solved it. At first I could add to my custom palette, then it stopped again. Bit strange. Also, the custom tim sig that I created in Master Palette still doesn't show up when I do 'More'. Not the end of the world, but something to consider in a bux fix I guess.
All the best

You need to press “add” in the master palette if you’d like to add it to your time signature palette.
