Looking for a way to have an instrument not visible until a certain bar number
I'm rearranging a song that has a solo come in on bar 10.
Is there a way to get MuseScore to show 3 voices and piano for the first 9 bars, and then show 4 voices and piano from bar 10 onwards?

Yes, in the menu: Style-->General...
Then under Score "hide empty staves" and if necessary deactivate "don't hide empty staves in the first system"
