How to make a triplet covering the span of 2 and a half beats?
The title says it all. I have 2 1/2 beats which I want to divide into 3 parts. Normally you would select the note or rest that you wish the triplet to span and then do ctrl+3 to make the triplet. However, I can't get a rest with 2 1/2 beats value, and if I select both the half rest and the eighth rest at the same time and press ctrl+3, it makes a triplet with 2 beats value followed by one with 1/2 beat value. So how do I do this?
Thank you in advance!

select a dotted half as the lenght then add the triplet:
N 6 . Ctrl+3
Create a Dotter half rest:
N 6 . 0

A dotted half rest would equal 3 beats, wouldn't it?

Ha, not quite!
Create a score in 5/8, select the whole mearure rest and enter Ctrl+3. select the measure, copy, paste to whereever you need it.

Nice find!
You can cut out the new score if you use an empty measure with a custom time signature of 5/8 in the current score.
