If you post the file I'd make some suggestions.
For instance in the soprano I'd use the underscore to show the melisma, and there is a way to show the melisma continuing after the line break, using a CTRL+SPACE at the beginning of the second system.
The underscore is longer than the baseline hyphen.
I have just found solution by using F2. But why the baseline hyphen symbol placed automatically differ from the baseline hyphen symbol offered in Text Symbols palette?

the lyrics dash and -melisma are just lines, not taken from the font the rest of the lyrics use.
