Edit custom palette entry?
Am I correct that the only mechanism for manipulating custom palette cells, other than the few items listed in properties, is by ctrl-shift-drag of an example glyph from a score to a new cell? I don't see any way to adjust elements such as text, font, symbol size, etc. As I recall the old method was to edit the XML; is that still possible? I need to create a large series of related cells that vary only in small details such as text, and I'd be delighted if I could use TextPad for this. Thanks if someone can clarify.

I don't know of another way. If you're comfortable editing XML, that should work fine. You just need to find the workspace file; the location is OS-specific. You might also consider saving the specific palette so you have more control over the location.

Glad I asked, I somehow hadn't noticed the load/save palette options. I expect that will give me what I'm after. Thanks.
