Figured bass
In the online help you are told to use ctrl (+) 6 while a note is highlighted, however this is the shortcut for sextuplets. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not able to understand your problem from that description, sorry. CTL+6 creates sextuplets when you are in standard note-entry mode. However, when you are in figured-bass entry mode, CTL+6 should normally advance the FB entry box by one half note beyond where you were when you typed that combination. If that is not what you want to do, you are typing the wrong command.
[Oooops. Edited to correct my goof in repeating the word 'sextuplet' instead of writing 'half note'. Fingers thinking for themselves; brain out to lunch....]
1. Select a note.
2. Press Ctrl + G to activate figured bass entry.
3. Enter the figured bass inversion.
4. At this point pressing Ctrl + 6 will extend the duration of the figured bass group by a half note duration. (The same time value as the number 6 when setting durations in standard note entry mode.)

Regards.
