Help me with notes.
I am trying to insert three 8th notes in a row (The rhythm is" rest, one and, two and, three and). it wants to connect them and make it a triplet or just connect all four. How can I avoid this?

When asking for help, it is usually best to attach to score you are having problems with and tell us precisely what you are doing (step by step), what you expect to see happen, and what happens instead.
In generally, if you want to enter an eighth rests followed by three eighth notes, it should be as simple as entering note input mode and typing "4 0 C C C" (4 to select the eighth note duration, 0 to enter a rest, then C C C to enter three C's; change to whatever notes you actually want. By default, the three eighths are beamed together, which is actually correct - or at least, one correct way of doing it. The rule is that you can beam threee eighths together if preceded by a rest, as then they won't be mistaken for a triplet. If you prefer, as I do, to follow a duifferent rule that says you should never beam three eighths unless they are a triplet - rest or no rest - then indeed, see the Handbook under "Beam" to learn how to override that beam (eg, double click the beam start icon after entering the second eighth note).
