Repeats
I can't get any of the general repeat signs to work and repeat barlines don't work after No 2. Is it likely I am missing something simple?

Quite likely yes. Have you seen/read https://musescore.org/en/handbook/repeat and/or https://musescore.org/en/handbook/volta ?
Can you share your score and explain what it should behave like? Either by picture of the desired end result or by listing the desired playback (first measure 1-10 then 3-10 then 3-7 then 11-15 for example)

It is a song with 4 verses and choruses plus final chorus. Two of the verses (1 & 4) have additional 'bits'. So the pattern is:
A B C
A C
A C
A D C C1
Maybe it's too complex>
But I can't get any repeats to work properly yet!
Yes I have read those two refs,
Thanks,

If you continue to have problems, please attach the actual score and describe what you are trying to make happen in more detail. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any way using standard musical notation to tell a human musician to do what you have in mind aside from writing it out.

Many thanks, Marc. This is not for performance but to reduce size of play -back and scrolling.

That's a jump pattern that I indeed don't see easily written out for human performers either.
Depending on what your layout requirements are, the closest you could get is probably along these lines:
A B ||: C A :||(3x) D C C1
In which you'll only have to copy the A and C sections once. See attached example, which used the following tricks (also written in the example):

Many thanks jetee. Will have a look at all that.

That is simple and ingenious!
I tried to achieve it with DC al segno etc but they don't seem to work at all.
For future ref how do I make then work here?

For what you have now, using DC/Segno's is just making it extremely hard. I can't come up with a way that is still readable for normal humans to give you this playback.
If you have a specific example and issue with DC/Segno/Coda behavior, feel free to open a new topic with your example file. We'll be able to then see what you've done to make things not work (other than making it too complex, that is :) ).
The simplest thing it might be is that you forgot to click the "play repeats" button when doing replay. Second button to the right of the replay button with a repeat sign on it.
At least on my machine the repeat button is off by default.

Thanks. It wasn't that - if only!
