I renamed it to "Ricercare_11.xml" and it now says
"C:\fakepath\Ricercare_11.xml cannot be uploaded. Only files with the following extensions are allowed: mscz."
Is that what you meant? I also used the file you uploaded.

Why upload (and where)? Simply open (import) that file with MuseScore

You need to install MuseScore, https://musescore.org/en/download and open the MusicXML file in MuseScore. Then, in MuseScore, choose File > Save online, enter your musescore.com credentials and the score will be uploaded to your musescore.com account.
In case it isn't clear:
Unlike Noteflight - which exists as a web service only and runs completely within your browser as far as I know - MuseScore is a separate program you install and run, no web browser involved at all except to donwload the installer in the first place. So as lasconic mentions, you need to install MuseScore and use MuseScore to load your MusicXML file, and you can then edit it on your computer.
There *is* a web service associated with MuseScore as well, but the web service is not the MuseScore program itself - it's a showcase for presenting the work you have creqated with MuseScore on your own computer. You don't edit files with this web service - it's a viewer/player only. And indeed, it only supports actual MuseScore files that you create using the MuseScore program on your computer (inc;uding files that were created by first importing MusicXML).
