MuseScore crashes when loading a certain file.
Hello,
I have a huge problem! Yesterday I have began writing a piano concerto - I was very proud on it - , but today I am not able to load it. All my other compositions do load, but this one does not. . .
Since I have installed the soundfont Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra, I have problems with not being able to load files, but I know the solutions to prevent these problems. Now, I have never had this issue before with one of my files.
I receive the following message, when loading the file (I have my settings on Dutch, so maybe the translation is not the exactly same as in the English version):
''MuseScore.exe does not work anymore'' and then MuseScore closes.
I do have a back-up file, but it is a hopeless task to rewrite it.
Could anyone please take a look at the score and tell me what I am doing wrong?
Kind regards,
Maarten Bauer

@Shoichi: where do you see that? I don't, just see the Crash and the file does look normal to me, at least at a first and cursory glance

Opened with Notepad, saved as xml
In reply to Opened with Notepad, saved as by Shoichi
sorry, that doesn't seem to make any sense to me, I can't open that XML file with an Editor, and you shouldn't be able to open an mscz with Notepad and successfully amd meaningfully save as XML. But of course if you do, you'l get that error, it just isn't meaningfull in any form or shape, you can't just open a comptressed mscz and save it as an (uncompressed) XML and then expect it to Import properly
I've extracted the mscx from the mscz (using 7Zip), deleted all slurs (using vim) and were able to load the file in MuseScore, albeit with 2 corruptions in measure 13 and 14, staff 9.

Thank you very much!
Can you also tell my how I can prevent these issues?

Hello,
Unfortunately the same issue occured with my Fugue in E minor:
I cannot load the file anymore. Maybe it has something to do with the soundfont Jeux1.4, which I installed the day before the file was broken.
Could you please take a look at it to see if the file can be repared?
Kind regards,
Maarten Bauer

Unfortunately it seems the actual score data is missing from this file, so you will need to recover this from a backup, I'm afraid.
I can't imagine that a soundfont could cause this; any other ideas about what you might have done to trigger this problem?
Are you using 2.0.3? On what OS?
In reply to Unfortunately it seems the by Marc Sabatella
I cannot think about another reason why the file is broken.
I have these issues since I have installed the Symphonic Sonatina soundfont, but they did not occur until now, so when I installed Jeux.
I am using 2.0.3.

Nope, sorry, this one is beyond repair. Check for backups
OK, here's a fixed score, I removed all slurs, to be able to load it (at least one of them was the culprit, but I didn't have the guts to check which one of the 98 it was), so you'd Need to add them back in. Frthermore I fixed a corruption in measure 13/14, staff 9, by getting rid of their Content so you'd have to enter these from scratch

Thank you again! :-)

If you can come up with clear steps to reproduce the issus, please report, then we have a chance of fixing that bug

And there the problem is again!

You mean you broke the file again? Where, how exactly?
In reply to You mean you broke the file by Jojo-Schmitz
I am sorry for the late reaction...
Yes I broke it again. I am not able to open the file since I have closed my computer the day before. I do have saved the score that day.
Can you please help me again?

Nope, this one is FUBAR, beyond repair
In reply to Nope, this one is FUBAR, by Jojo-Schmitz
What a shame!
Do you know how to prevent FUBAR files?
In reply to What a shame! Do you know how by Maarten Bauer
Not without knowing how and why exactly this happened.

What it looks like to me is that someone opened that file with a zip archive editor and removed the MSCX file from within it. I don't know that MuseScore itself would ever produce a file quite like that?
In reply to What it looks like to me is by Marc Sabatella
IIRC we had reports like that before
