Basic help please

I have watched some of the utube tutorials but am having some very basic problemsl
1. How do you delete notes and rests which you have added by mistake earlier in the score?
2. How do you add a slur mark?
3. I wanted to join 3 pairs of quavers together in a bar but cant work out how to do this

1. Concerning deletion of notes and rests...
Notes...
Select (click on) a note, press delete. This will place a rest (silence) of the same duration as the deleted note.
Rests...
Select a rest, press delete. Nothing happens... why?
Because how is silence deleted? That's a metaphysical conundrum!
The solution is to place a note at that position. So, choose a duration and type a letter note name (A-G).
