How can I use a slide glissando than a chromatic Glissando for string players?

Ok. I think this is getting weird about glissando slides for string players. I've put a glissando slide on the 1st note for the violin part, but when I did the playback, the glissando sounded like a chromatic scale from one note to the very last note on a piano, then what it was supposed to sound like string players sliding their finger on the string. The bend articulation would work, but doesn't have enough notes to slide down when I'm adding a top note. A little help please?
